Grown & Gone: Who We Are
Alright — let’s get into it.
We’re Ty and Kaala, a semi-young (but still fine!) couple prepping for our next chapter — the one with no damn kids! Whooo hoooo! 😂
We were lucky enough to find a friend in each other many years ago, and even luckier to bridge that friendship into true love. Both of us became parents in our early twenties, and we’ve been living that parent life for what feels like forever. Our kids are now on the brink of adulthood, and while we’ll absolutely miss them… we’ve given more than enough at this point, lol. It’s time for them to see some things and do some things — without us.
Now it’s our turn.
We’ve been blessed to travel to some ridiculously beautiful places — the kind of countries that make you want to break your lease, pack a carry-on, and never look back. Along the way, we’ve had so many conversations like,
“Boo… what are we doing? Why didn’t we take more pictures? More videos? What’s wrong with us?” 😅
So here we are.
Making the conscious decision to document our travels — one country (or island) at a time.
Who are we?
Ty is an engineer by day and an incredible videographer/photographer by night. He just has a way of capturing moments exactly as they need to be — so yes, get ready for some stunning shots and even more gorgeous videos.
I’m a second grade teacher by day and an acupuncturist by night. I truly love what I do, and I get so much joy from both worlds. We’re both grateful for our life — but we’re also craving more than just jobs and routines. You ever wake up in the morning and just not want to go to work? (Of course you have.) Well… you’re not alone. And we’re looking to change that reality — by creating a new one.
So what sparked all this?
One day I was watching YouTube and stumbled across a couple who were cruising… full-time. Let me say that again: FULL. TIME. Okay, one more time for the people in the back - FUUULL TIIIMMEEE!
I instantly reimagined their videos with Ty and me — doing the things, eating the meals, laying in the sun… and I thought: We could totally do this.
That was the moment. The spark.
Now, we’re not necessarily trying to become full-time cruisers (yet), but we are becoming full-time Lifers — living life to the fullest on every level. Intentionally traveling. Documenting our experiences. Creating joy, freedom, and a new way of being together.
Like I said — we love our kids. But we are tired, okay?! 😂
If you’re a parent, you know exactly what we mean. The constant sacrifices, the good times, the hard ones — it’s all part of the journey. And now, we’re ready to shift into something new. Just us. In love. Under a beautiful sunset.
Grown.
